Aesthetic Eyelid surgery or “Blepharoplasty”

Droopy or saggy eyelid skin can make you look older and can even impair your vision. Excessive bags under the eyes or puffiness of the lower eyelids also contribute to a tired, older look. A “Blepharoplasty” or Aesthetic eyelid surgery can correct those problems, giving you a refreshed look.

During your pre-surgical consultation, Dr. Stosich will ask you questions regarding your vision, tear production, and use of contact lenses. Your age, skin type, ethnicity and degree of vision obstruction will also be discussed, although impaired vision is not a pre-requisite for having this procedure performed.

A Blepharoplasty is carried out in our surgical suite under general anesthesia. During upper eyelid surgery, incisions are made in the natural creases of the eyelids. Then, fatty tissue and excess skin are removed and the incisions are closed with fine sutures. In lower eyelid surgery, the incision can be made either at the lash line, or just inside the lower lid, depending on what needs to be accomplished to achieve the best possible result. Again, fat and excess tissue are removed and the incisions are closed with fine sutures. There will be some swelling and probable bruising post-surgically, but as that subsides you will look rejuvenated and feel beautiful.
